Howard "The Professor" Lederer

Style: Howard Lederer is known as "the professor" because he is calm, analytical and always willing to teach others. He is the ultimate example of a patient and disciplined player, relating poker to a Zen art.

Bio: Before he played poker, Howard Lederer was a chess player in New York. Using the same level of analysis and strategy, he mastered poker with game-play based on complex theories. Today, he is one of the most famous players in the world. He is also a founder and co-owner of Pocket Kings, the company that owns Full Tilt Poker. In his career, he has won two WSOP bracelets, two WPT titles, and has made 41 cashes at WSOP.

Misc: Howard Lederer is a vegan, but once won a $10,000 prop bet by eating a cheeseburger.


Phil Ivey

How to play/rail: You can play against or watch Phil Ivey nosebleed stakes on Full Tilt Poker. Just look at the "Ivey's Room" tables and see if he's on. He plays up to $500-$1000 no-limit and $2000-$4000 limit in cap, 6-max, full ring and Heads up. He also regularly plays in the Bellagio's Big Game.

Style: Recognized as an extremely aggressive player, Ivey is capable of bluffing with absolutely nothing or calling a large bet with ace high. He is one of the most watchful players, using physical tells, betting patterns and past actions to get accurate reads on his opponents.

Bio: Phil Ivey began his career by playing poker with at the casinos in Atlantic City. Today, he is regarded as the best professional poker player by many other professional players. As one of the most famous and popular players, and as a golfer, he is known as the "Tiger Woods of Poker." Ivey is seen as a philanthropist because he supports many charities, including his own Budding Ivey Foundation. His career includes an impressive seven WSOP bracelets, one WPT championship, $12.8 million career tournament earnings and $15.7 million earned on Full Tilt from 2007-2009.


Chris "Jesus" Ferguson

How to play/rail: Chris Ferguson rarely plays cash games. Search for him with "find a player" to see if he is on.

Bio: Nicknamed "Jesus," Chris Ferguson is easy to spot by his long hair, sunglasses and cowboy hat. He was born and educated in Los Angeles where he earned a Ph.D. in computer science. He started playing poker at age ten and he entered his first WSOP event in 1995. Since then, he has won the Main Event in 2000, won five WSOP bracelets and became the national No Limit Hold'em Heads-Up Champion in 2008. He also created the "Chris Ferguson Challenge," where he started playing freerolls and worked his way up to $10,000 on FullTiltPoker.com in one year.

John "JJ" Juanda

How to play/rail: John Juanda mostly plays tournaments, but does some cash tables as well. Look for Juanda at WSOP and WPT events. You can sometimes find him at $500/$1000 cap and short handed No Limit Hold'em tables.

Style: His competitive nature and disciplined play make John Juanda a talented player. In play, he tries to learn and adapt faster than his opponents can, spending many hours analyzing his every hand.

Bio: John Juanda was born in Indonesia, but now lives in Marina del Rey, California. Before he began his career, he only held one steady job, as a door-to-door bible salesman. As a poker player, he has had an amazing career with over $9.6 million in tournament earnings, including four WSOP bracelets. He has made six WPT final tables, but has never won a title. He is ranked 9th for all time WSOP cashes and was the 2008 WSOP Europe Main Event Champion.


Jennifer Harman

How to play/rail: Jennifer Harman spends four nights a week playing in the Big Game at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, where she is the only female regular. She plays casual limit hold'em games online at Full Tilt Poker, usually for a $100 buy-in.

Bio: Jennifer Harman first played poker in Reno, Nevada at the age of eight. Today, she has two WSOP wins and is a regular at the Big Game. Her two WSOP bracelets make her the most successful woman in the world of poker. She won the NL Deuce-to-Seven Draw in 2000 and Limit Hold'em in 2002. Because she had to receive two kidney transplants, she founded CODA, a charitable organization for organ transplants. She frequently hosts charity tournaments for this and other organizations.


Phil Gordon

Bio: Phil Gordon is a 6'9'' tall player born in El Paso, Texas with a background in computer science. He earned a million dollars before becoming a poker pro and spent five years traveling the world. Since then, he has won a WPT championship and finished at several WSOP final tables. He is a well known commentator and hosts the show Celebrity Poker Showdown. He has also published training DVD's, articles, and three strategy books.


Tom "durrrr" Dwan

How to play/rail: Tom Dwan is never far from the most expensive tables at FullTiltPoker.com or PokerStars.com. On Full Tilt Poker, check to see if he's playing at his reserved "durrrr" or "durrrr Challenge" tables.

Bio: Thomas Dwan is a legendary high stakes cash game player. He began his career playing with $50 at Paradise Poker in 2004, and won $5.4 million on Full Tilt in 2008. Since then, he has won or lost millions of dollars at a time and is still recognized as one of the best cash game players in the world. In 2009, he issued his Million Dollar Challenge. The challenge was that any player could agree to play 50,000 hands with him at four tables. At the end of those hands, if the other player was down, he would have to pay $500,000, but if he was up, Dwan would give him $1.5 million. Dwan also holds the record for the biggest single pot in a recorded live game, at over $1.1 million.


Erick Lindgren

Bio: Born in Burney, California, Erick Lindgren is a rising star in the world of professional poker. He played quarterback in high school and considers himself to be very competitive. His impressive list of achievements includes two WPT championships, the FullTiltPoker.net Poker Pro Showdown, and one WSOP bracelet in mixed no-limit/limit hold'em in 2008. He has earned over $7.3 million in career tournament winnings and published a poker tournament strategy book.

Misc: Erick Lindgren won a $350,000 prop bet by playing four consecutive rounds of golf at Las Vegas' "Bear's Best" golf course. The bet required him to to walk through blazing heat while carrying his own bags and shooting under 100 every round.


Erik Seidel

Bio: Erik Seidel was born in New York City where he spent eight years playing tournament backgammon and trading on the stock market before playing poker. He finished second to Johnny Chan in his first major tournament, the 1988 WSOP Main Event that was featured in the movie Rounders. Since then, he has become a very successful player with eight WSOP bracelets and over $10 million in career winnings. He is also on the top ten all-time money list for WSOP.


Andy "The Rock" Bloch

How to play/rail: Andy Bloch is primarily a tournament player, and rarely plays in cash games.

Bio: Andy Bloch is a mathematical genius from New Haven, Connecticut, with two degrees from MIT and one from Harvard. He was part of the famous MIT blackjack team and started his poker career in 1992. Since then, his career earnings have surpassed $4 million. His accomplishments include 2 WPT final tables and 23 WSOP money finishes, but he has never won a bracelet or a title.


Mike Matusow

Games: Mixed Games, Pot Limit Omaha hi

How to play/rail: Mike Matusow plays high stakes mixed games and PLO hi tables.

Style: Mike Matusow is nicknamed "The Mouth" because of his reputation for trash-talking. He makes his personality an important aspect of his game and uses it to try to get inside his opponents' heads. He is known as a total maniac and shows his cards when he bluffs.

Bio: Mike Matusow began his career as a degenerate gambler who stole money from his mom's purse and once attended Gamblers Anonymous. He began playing poker in 1989 and today is one of the best No Limit Hold'em and Omaha Hi/Lo players. He has won three WSOP bracelets, the 2005 Tournament of Champions and over $6.5 million career tournament winnings. He is also the first player to win $1 million dollar prizes twice in one year.


Gus Hansen

Games: High stakes Pot Limit Omaha and No Limit Hold'em.

How to play/rail: Gus Hansen is an active online player on both Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars. On Full Tilt Poker, you will most often find him playing $200/$400 Cap Pot Limit Omaha or at his $2000/$4000 Limit Omaha table. He likes to play short-handed. He is also a regular at the Big Game at the Bellagio.

Style: Gus Hansen is exciting to watch because he is willing to take big risks. He is an aggressive and unpredictable player who likes to bully his opponents with wild bets.

Bio: A native of Denmark, Gus Hansen began his career playing at the Ocean Card View Room in Santa Cruz, California. Nicknamed "The Great Dane," Hansen was the first player to win three WPT open tournaments and is still the only player to have won four WPT titles. He has enhanced his winnings by founding his own poker strategy site and co-founding pokerchamps.com. Despite his success in tournaments, Hansen has lost large sums of money in live games, including the Big Game at the Bellagio.


Allen "Clever Piggy" Cunningham


Handle: "Allen Cunningham" on Full Tilt Poker.

Games: No Limit Hold'em, Mixed Games.

How to play/rail: Allen Cunningham is primarily a tournament player, but sometimes plays cash games.

Bio: Before playing poker, Allen Cunningham was studying civil engineering at UCLA. Today, he has an impressive five WSOP bracelets, over $10 million career tournament earnings and was the 2005 WSOP Player of the Year. He was also voted by other poker pros as the best all-around player under 35.


Patrick Antonius

Games: NLHE, Pot Limit Omaha, Mixed Games

How to play/rail: Patrick Antonius often plays in Ivey's Room on FullTiltPoker.com. Look for him at his reserved Omaha H/L tables called "Patrik's Corner" and "Patrik's Place." He is also a regular at the Bellagio's Big Game.

Style: Patrick Antonius is a disciplined player who does not show emotion. At one point, he lost what was then the largest pot ever on High Stakes Poker, at $743,000, to a bad beat without any visible change in his demeanor.

Bio: A former model and tennis coach from Finland, Patrick Antonius made a name for himself by earning high spots in two European Poker Tour events. He has since made 12 in the money WSOP finishes, one final table at WPT, and one title in the European Poker Tour. These wins are impressive, but he specializes in online heads-up play and has won millions of dollars playing high stakes tables online at Full Tilt Poker. He is also the only player yet to take on Tom Dwan's Million Dollar Challenge.
